These camps last for four or five weeks and are held in the summer vacation. They are pitched at boys and girls who are still in elementary school. And to say they have become extremely popular would be an understatement. Parents love them for all sorts of reasons and the kids on camp reckon they are great as well.
Let’s face it, summer can be a time when kids either sit around and do nothing or else they may well be getting up to no good. A summer military camp has the wonderful benefits of giving youngsters plenty of healthy activities and prevents them from doing wrong or dangerous things.
Let’s start with getting up in the morning. Kids on camp do this bright and early every day of the camp. Then they have to make their own bed – how many parents see that happening at home? – and get their clothes and kit in shipshape fashion. There is an inspection and woe betide any child who fails the test. If nothing else this gives the camp attendees the feeling of pride when they achieve success every morning.
Then there are the daily activities which include all manner of exciting activities. These activities are planned and run by experienced professionals who know the importance of good health when it comes to young, growing bodies. Remember there are many kids at home over the summer who enjoy little if any healthy exercise and even make things worse by eating badly.
On a summer military camp the youngsters are fed well on a balanced and nutritious diet helping their bodies develop with proper and healthy meals.
If a parent is worried their child lacks self-discipline, a stay in one of these summer military camps can be the ideal preparation for their teenage years ahead. We all know the importance of self-discipline when a teen is studying and preparing for college. What better way to develop self-discipline skills than at a summer military camp.
And then there is the enjoyment factor prevalent in all summer military camps. The aim is to toughen up the youngsters but also to give them a most enjoyable time. The team games and activities are great for toughening up young minds and bodies but are also great fun.
Decision making is a skill which many kids fail to develop. One of the main aims of a summer military camp is to put kids in a situation where they need to assess their position and make a decision. This happens over and over throughout the camp giving kids the chance to become decision makers.
Then there are the skills they can develop in the various activities be they sailing, climbing, hiking, using ropes, balls and other equipment. Gaining these skills means they can use them when they leave the camp and having these skills means the self confidence and self esteem of the youngsters is given a terrific boost as well.
When you think that your son or daughter could waste their summer and be bored into the bargain, a few weeks at a summer military camp sounds a wonderful idea.
