For Valour The Modern Naval Fiction Library

The story of the Western Allies’ supply convoys to Soviet Russia during World War II is not often told. In this audiobook, Reeman, himself a veteran of the Royal Navy during the war, describes the horrors of combat as well as the lives of those who fought and too often died on this cold, lonely, and dangerous duty. Our hero is Commander Graham Martineau, who is the skipper of H.M.S. Hakka, an escort destroyer on one of these convoys. Reeman’s works are always well written and action filled; this is no different, with plenty of small battles and an exciting climactic confrontation. Experienced actor David Rintoul reads well, with a performance understated in tone and staccato in delivery. For public libraries and those with a demand for naval fiction. Michael T.
