5 Stars Well made classics
I used to wear Corcorans (several types, but usually the Corcoran 1 jump boots), back in the Army.

Nothing supported my ankles like these boots, and I loved the way they felt and looked. But shiny black army boots sometimes look a bit odd in personal clothing, so I asked for these brown ones and got a pair for Christmas.

These boots took a while to break in, as you should expect. They take some effort to shine well the first time, as well. But they are high quality boots. The soles are a higher quality than the ones I got from Clothing and Sales in the Army. The leather is excellent (but silicone treated like many military boots).

To break them in, I put them on and stuck my feet in a bucket of hot water for an hour. To shine them, I applied brown polish, let it dry and haze, brushed it off, and then applied some more, sprays the boots with a water bottle, and polished with an old t-shirt. It’s really quite easy, but time consuming at first. They look gorgeous. I stay away from ’short-cut- polish solutions. Wax based polish is easier to use in the long run and your boots will last forever with that kind of attention.

Another reviewer noted that the inner sole is foam. It’s true, the old leather tongue thing from my Army memories has been replaced with a thick two layered foam thing. I think it’s more comfortable, but it probably won’t last quite as long. But you can buy foam inserts for shoes to replace these easily.

One important note: don’t wear cheap cotton socks with this type of boot. I used to get so irritated as an Army Sergeant when soldiers would blister their feet wearing cheap socks. Use wool, acrylic, or some kind of nice hiking socks. Especially when you are breaking these boots in.

I’m delighted by this purchase, and if you want a more civilian looking version of these old classics, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with these.

5 Stars Great boots
I bought these boots several years ago (5) and have been VERY happy with them. They required almost no break-in and were comfortable right out of the box. I manage large commercial construction projects and wanted something that looked good enough for project meetings but would survive walking around the project site. As I said….”great boots”.

2 Stars Steal Shank Broke After A Year and A Half …
After a year and a half of daily use, the steal shank broke and floated around beneath the top sole. Peeled back the top sole and fished it out. Top sole tore, revealing it to be cheap foam. Very disappointed. I ask for a repair from the shoe shop, and they say they can’t fix it. Found someone who said they could, for the cost of a new pair of boots. These boots look old, but they are made with new materials (i.e., junk).
